The Great Lakes Ecological Assessment is an interagency effort to collect and consolidate new and existing environmental, biological, and socioeconomic information in the Northern Lake States. The project is envisioned as one part of an overall program of adaptive planning, management, monitoring, and research supporting ecosystem management. Funding for the project has been received from various sources. Most notably, support has been received from the National Partnership for Reinventing Government, the USDA Forest Service, and the USDA and USDI Joint Fire Science Program.
